Technical Spread-sheeting
This course aims to update the skills of engineers, scientists and technologists so they can carry out calculations and process data more effectively using Microsoft Excel. It will be based on practical examples and will concentrate on applications likely to be of use in technical situations. At least half of the course will be hands-on time on PCs exploring a series of examples with guidance from experienced users.  
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is designed for engineers, scientists and technologists who already have a basic knowledge of spreadsheets but who know they are not making full use of the software.

After attending the course participants will be able to solve a wider range of problems using spreadsheets. They will be more efficient and accurate when using spreadsheets and be able to use spreadsheets in a wider range of situations.
Program
  The course will cover the following and more:
 • functions including If, Vlookup, matrix formulae, user-defined functions
 • creating and copying charts
 • using Solver for optimization and curve fitting
 • effective tools for documenting, formatting and protecting spreadsheets
 • debugging tools, avoiding and using circular references
